The Balmoral Edinburgh

The Balmoral Edinburgh

For over a century, The Balmoral has found a home at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street. A landmark in the centre of the city, the historic building’s grand clock still dominates the skyline, while its enviable location, views, hospitality and five-star facilities provide the perfect retreat.

Opened on October 15th 1902, it was originally known as the North British. Acclaimed as one of the great railway hotels, it originally boasted 300 bedrooms and 52 bathrooms. It was later renamed The Balmoral - which means “majestic dwelling” in Gaelic.

The Balmoral is located in the heart of Edinburgh, on the corner of the Old and New Town. The hotel is in the prime position for exploring the city’s many historical and cultural sites, from Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Museum to the City Art Centre and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. It’s also perfectly positioned for browsing the designer boutiques and department stores of Multrees Walk and the ideal base during the Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The Perfect combination of tradition and modernity, each of its 168 rooms has been individually designed by Olga Polizzi. Each of its 20 Edinburgh Suites are generous and elegant with magnificent views.
